This is my last of 26.2 blog posts! It's been a really fun experience to reflect, encourage, and thank all of the great people in my life. Marathon day is finally here, and I am very excited.
As I look back on all my blog posts, I was thinking of a unique motto for Young Guns and our runners. I came up with this, "Run for Fun!" When we run for fun, we eliminate the stress of trying to compete with others, we enjoy the people around us, and we have fun in doing something we love...running! As I run tomorrow, I'll be having fun thinking back on all the great events in my life.
Since the race is getting closer and closer, I've been frequently asked, "What time are you going for?" My reply has been pretty consistent with, "I'll just be glad to finish!" I've learned that when I set time goals, I feel like I let others down if I don't make it in that time. So if tomorrow I am faster then last year, awesome; if I'm slower then my first year, that's ok too. I'm just looking forward to the energy of the race, the burning in my legs, and the cheering fans along the way.
Last year after I finished my 2nd marathon, I said I wasn't planning on doing another marathon again. Today, before starting the Austin marathon tomorrow, I want to run the Austin Marathon every year. I know I have yet to complete my run tomorrow, but I want to keep running, keep challenging myself, and keep having fun no matter what happens. I was also thinking how awesome it would be to complete the challenge of a half or full Ironman! Let's take one step at a time though!
Well, I know it's only 8pm, but I am starting to get really excited, and I feel like I should get some rest. I plan to complete one more blog post after the race to let everyone know how it turned out. Thanks again for all the love and support. Run for fun, always!!!
